This is the first in a series funded by the Jerome Foundation, through Intermedia Arts, bringing the country's biggest spoken word talent together with the Twin Cities most exciting artists in all disciplines. 2010 winner of the Jerome Foundation's Verve Grant for spoken word, Thadra Sheridan presents this exciting collection of comedy, poetry, visual art, dance, hip hop, and music, kicking off her series with this exciting new show that brings you not one, but two acclaimed national poets; Ed Mabrey, Individual National Slam Champion, and Big Poppa E, Slam legend and haiku master. Ed Mabrey will break your heart with his powerful, dynamic work and flawless performance. Big Poppa E. will amaze you with his ability to craft words. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes hitting you in the gut, these two artists are not to be missed.
They will be joined by some of this city's greatest talent. Dessa, who is currently smashing her way into the hip hop scene will be performing spoken word. Multiple Minneapolis and St. Paul slam champion, Shane Hawley will shock you with his fearless words. Peter Paul Rousseau, acclaimed dancer and staple of Dykes Do Drag, and Huge, members of the popular Improv show, Show X, Visual Artist, Tom Cassidy, Spoken Word Diva, Thadra Sheridan, and an assortment of surprise guests will make this a night of thrilling art and inspiring words.
