Gender Treachery is an emerging performance art review featuring drag, music, poetry, and beyond! Join Jenna and their cohort of creative colleagues in spitting in the face of Cis-tematic oppression via radical expression. We'll scream, we'll shimmy, but most importantly, WE. WILL. SLAY! Join our battalion of this gender revolution, won't you? (Now Bi-Monthly at Bryant Lake Bowl!)
Taken from Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale," 'Gender Treachery' refers to homosexual acts, which are punishable by death in Atwood's dystopian world. At GTwJC, we are taking this term originally charged with violent oppression and transforming it into resistance by way of radical expression. We assert that our 'treacheries': our Queer-ness, our Trans-ness, our Black-ness, our Latinx-ness, and beyond, are actually our most powerful and radiant attributes. So we will do just that. RADIATE. Buy your tickets, bring your dollars, and support these emerging artists! January Special Guests: Captain Falcum, Brian Bose, Melancholy, & The Other Jeanie Retelle.
