Empty Nest

What happens when the kids grow up, the mirror feels a little less friendly, and your spouse is still your scene partner? You write a show about it.

Married performers Laura Zabel and Levi Weinhagen bring a new show about identity, marriage, aging, and transition — with plenty of laughs.

Through a mix of sharp stories, absurd sketches, and knowing winks at the audience, Empty Nest dives into life’s big transitions and finds the humor in the awkward, poignant, and downright ridiculous moments along the way.

“This show is about what it means to grow older together — and to figure out who we are in a new phase of life,” says Zabel. “It’s either make this show or clean out our garage,” adds Weinhagen.

Whether you’re happily coupled, flying solo, or just curious about how two funny people can stay married and still make art together, Empty Nest offers a night of stories, sketches and bits of life in transition.

Laura and Levi met performing at the Brave New Workshop and have performed for more than two decades in theater, comedy, and storytelling — and at home, they’ve been improvising marriage and parenting for over 24 years.
