MPLS native acoustic groups come together to provide A Chill Wednesday night full of homemade folks songs, with a few covers sprinkled in here and there.
Witch Hunter General is the songwriting project of Tim Frederick together with longtime friends and musical collaborators Robbie Weisshaar and Andy Colburn. They continue to hone a refreshing folk sound featuring adventurous synths and string arrangements.
Beyond The Trees is an acoustic duo made up of Alek Glauvitz and Arja Lea Niskanen from St. Paul, MN. They perform an eclectic acoustic mix of folk, original, contemporary, and classic rock. Their original music blends a Minnesota/North Shore sensibility with an urban/bluegrass-folk feel for a very unique sound.
Beyond The Trees writes songs that have a personal touch, talking about real life experiences from the happy little moments in life like a child's laughter or a walk in the woods, to the real deep, hard to talk about struggles such as depression, death, and heart-ache. Their music is written with the purpose of exposing those emotions to the listener in the hopes that the listener can know they are not alone in these daily struggles that life throws at all of us. Beyond The Trees hopes to paint a picture for the listener through their melodies and lyrics to bring the listener out of their physical space and into a warm blanket of musical comfort.
The Daily Norm is the solo project of Kae Layne, a guitarist from Connecticut. His fingerstyle technique is described as delicate, atmospheric, and thought-provoking. Inspired by the likes of Lindsay Buckingham, Paul McCartney, and Bruce Cockburn, he takes what he learns and adds it to his style. His hope is that through his playing and his music, he can reach and connect with others.
