For more than two decades, Nadine DuBois has been singing, emceeing, creating and producing shows, touring internationally, and building a life in cabaret.
Now she’s bringing twenty years of songs and stories to Bryant Lake Bowl for the premiere of I Probably Shouldn’t Tell You This, an intimate new cabaret with guitarist Robert Bell.
Nadine’s performance career began in Minneapolis cabaret and burlesque and grew to include hundreds of performances across the country and around the world. She has produced and performed in Las Vegas, toured Australia and New Zealand, emceed for the Burlesque Hall of Fame, and appeared on some of the Twin Cities’ best-known stages, including First Avenue.
I Probably Shouldn’t Tell You This draws from all of it: the music, the stages, the stories, and everything that happened when the spotlight was elsewhere. Some of the songs have been with Nadine for years; others take the evening somewhere entirely new. There will be stories worth telling, plenty of humor, and more than twenty years of material to work with.
It’s funny. It’s personal. It’s a little sexy. And because this is cabaret, the audience is part of the evening too.
Nadine is joined by Robert Bell, a Minneapolis guitarist and bandleader whose work is rooted in jazz and swing, with a particular passion for the music of Django Reinhardt. The founder of the Twin Cities Hot Club and a longtime musical collaborator with Nadine, Robert has performed at festivals, theaters, and concert halls around the country.
After years of singing, emceeing, and introducing the next act, Nadine DuBois is taking the whole evening for herself.
She probably shouldn’t tell you everything.
But she might.
