Other Country Ensemble's monthly World Music series returns to Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, this month with SLOVCZECH!

SLOVCZECH is an Eastern European folk-rock band based in the Twin Cities and was founded in 2008 by Petr Bachan (electric & acoustic guitar) from Czech Republic along with Jozef Klobusnik (accordion) from Slovakia. Other members include Mary Larew (violin), Dan Yoon (bass guitar) and homegrown Minnesota members Sara Jeddeloh (violin) and Michael Leville (percussion). The band plays a mix of highly danceable Czech, Slovak, and other European music.

OCE performs traditional music from the northern Mediterranean region ranging from Spanish Sephardic to Greek and Turkish music, and original compositions inspired by the regions. features veteran musicians Scott Nieman (oud, bouzouki, mandocello), Steve Clarke (bass, alto c flutes and soprano sax), Laurie Knutson (bass and alto clarinet), Michael Ziegahn (flamenco guitar, cajon, voice) and Mark Black (frame drums, darbuka, and various percussion). OCE will often weave tales of the history of the music from 700 A.D on and the fusion of sounds that spread through the Mediterranean, as well as the instruments they perform.
